In the United States, Mother’s Day is celebrated on May 14, 2017. More than 90 countries will be celebrating Mother’s Day this week, including many countries where the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) works. We take this opportunity to celebrate mothers everywhere and the invaluable role that healthy mothers play in families, communities, and economies.
USAID works to improve the health and wellbeing of mothers around the globe. USAID programs enable women to plan when and how many children to have, support quality care during delivery, and reach mothers with appropriate services and information to raise healthy families. Our programs have saved the lives of 200,000 women since 2008. This week, we will celebrate the success stories of mothers living in communities around the world where USAID works. Happy and healthy Mother’s Day to women everywhere!
